Carleton College celebrated its newest addition Friday, cutting the ribbon on its new wind turbine, now known as the Kracum Wind Turbine.

Named for its benefactors, Carleton alumni Laurie and Rich Kracum, the structure was the Kracum's 30th wedding anniversary gift to one another. It also honors Rich Kracum's older brother, David Kracum. David Kracum was Carleton grad as well. He died in 2008.

This is Carleton's second wind turbine, but the first to help power the campus. Energy from the first is sold to Xcel Energy. The Kracum Wind Turbine, off Hwy 19, is expected to provide one third of the campus' energy.
