FARIBAULT — The River Bend Nature Center announced Thursday it has hired Tyler Ahnemann as its new executive director.

The center is holding an open house from 7-9 p.m. on July 9 to welcome Ahnemann, who is the University of Minnesota State 4-H program manager. He has also served as the assistant director of education at the Houston Zoo.

The open house will be held in the River Bend Nature Center’s Interpretive Center. Light refreshments will be provided.

Ahnemann replaces Nalani McCutcheon, who left the center in April to take over as founding executive director of the Cannon River STEM School. The center’s board of directors selected Ahnemann from a field of about 30 applicants, according to Board President Gene Buhr.
