Llewellyn Gilbert Hurlbert, age 72, of Northfield, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at his home in the Northfield Manor.
Lew was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Antigo, Wis., the son of Gilbert and Adeline (Novak) Hurlbert. He graduated from Antigo High School then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. Following his discharged he served in the Antigo Police Force for several years.
Lew was united in marriage to Bonnie Mae Porter on April 15, 1961, in Antigo. They lived in Watertown and Wisconsin Dells, Wis., before moving to Northfield in 1980. He was an over-the-road trucker for many years before his retirement in 1999.
Lew enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, auto racing, telling jokes and socializing over a cup of coffee. He and his family were members of Little Prairie United Methodist Church.
Lew is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie; two sons, Keith (Deb) of Barneveld, Wis., and Kregg (Elisabeth) of Northfield; four grandchildren, Mark (Becky), Brent, Kindra and Emily; great-grandchild, Chase; two brothers, Richard (Penny) of Antigo, and Brian of Georgia; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at the Little Prairie United Methodist Church in Dundas, with lunch to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
