Evelyn Bainbridge, 84

Evelyn Holland Bainbridge, age 84, of Lakeview Village, Lenexa, Kan., died peacefully with her husband and children at her side, Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, after a severe stroke two days earlier.

Evelyn was a graduate of Northfield High School and received her bachelor’s in art, with honors, from St. Olaf College. Following college she was hired as stewardess with TWA in 1947 where she met her husband (the captain of her first flight), Wm. (Bill) Bainbridge Jr. Bill and Evelyn spent 50 years at Lake Quivira, Kan., where they raised their four children. Evelyn ran a home-based business in AIM nutritional products.

Evelyn is survived by her husband; four children, Bill Bainbridge III of Newton, Kan., Dr. Marsha Bainbridge Carpenter of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Jean Bainbridge of Dallas, Texas, and Mark Bainbridge of Blue Springs, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Roark of Ft. Worth, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn’s life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Road, Shawnee, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ in honor of Evelyn Bainbridge.
