NORTHFIELD — In coordination with the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency, Rice County Public Health and Northfield Public Schools are sponsoring an H1N1 Vaccine Clinic for children ages 4 to 9 years old. The clinic will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Northfield Middle School, 2200 Division St.
The clinic offers the nasal spray H1N1 vaccine to eligible children, but a limited supply of injectable vaccine will be reserved for children who are not eligible to receive the nasal spray vaccine.
For more information, call 507-332-6111 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
In addition, Dakota County public health officials offer FluMist vaccine clinics for children ages 2 to 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Clinics are held at the Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road, W. St. Paul; and at the Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley.
The amount of vaccine is limited and vaccinations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointments will be taken. Only the nasal spray vaccine is available.
When more vaccine becomes available, Dakota County Public Health staff plan to vaccinate people in other groups. Those who do not meet the age requirements, but are interested in receiving the vaccine can check for future updates at www.dakotacounty.us by searching “flu vaccine” or by calling Dakota County Public Health, 651-438-4777.
Additional information for parents:
• Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Vaccinations will not be given if the child is ill.
• Bring insurance card. Those without insurance can still have children vaccinated at no charge.
• Be prepared to stay 15 minutes after vaccination is administered.
• Future community clinics will be offered as vaccine becomes available. |
