NORTHFIELD — Rice County employers added more than 300 jobs in October, posting the biggest gains since June.
That’s according to new jobs data released yesterday (Nov. 24) by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The county’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.5 percent from 7.6 percent in the prior month, down from the 10 percent rate in March that marked the highest rate in at least 20 years.
Statewide, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate grew by two-tenths of a percentage point to 7.6 percent in October. Nationally, the adjusted unemployment rate stands at 10.2 percent.
Month-to-month unemployment dropped from 6.1 percent to 5.7 percent in Northfield and held steady at 8.8 percent in Faribault.
