CORRECTION: The following article has been changed to reflect an inaccuracy. If Olson meets the conditions of her probation through September 2010, her 90-day jail sentence will be suspended.
NORTHFIELD — A Northfield woman convicted of two counts of selling narcotics was sentenced earlier this month.
Michelle Olson, 25, was given a $1,000 fine and five years of probation by District Judge Thomas Neuville.
In March 2008, Olson sold 65 pills of Vicodin, a prescription painkiller, to a police informant working with law enforcement agents. She was charged with two felony counts of selling narcotics and selling more than 50 pills within 90 days, but Olson moved out of state before she could be arrested. Arraigned later in June, she was convicted of selling Vicodin in September.
Olson was originally sentenced to one year in prison, but if she meets the conditions of her probation through September 2010 her jail sentence, reduced to 90 days, will be suspended, according to Assistant Rice County Attorney Benjamin Behar.
The conditions of Olson’s probation include abstaining from drugs or alcohol, submitting to chemical testing and remaining law-abiding, Behar said. Olson’s jail sentence was stayed until Sept. 1, 2010, in part because Olson is pregnant, Behar added.
